San Francisco is told to be the most beautiful city of the United States. The yankees are sure proud of it. Then they come to Prague and Budapest and change their mind. Well, Frisco is not bad but...

We, of course, already "knew" the city from our previous tours six and seven years ago but we were driving up and down the streets with great interest, especially Zoli and Gyuri who have never been to the "New World" before. Now we haven't rode the cable car but, for the first time, drove up to the Coit Tower, where we enjoyed the great circle panorama (click on the picture above - you can even see the Golden Gate, the Alcatraz and the Bay Bridge). The picture below was also taken from the Coit Tower and if you click on it, you could even discover the famous curvy Lombard Street.

The weather was not very good (as it can be seen on the photos), the temperature dropped down drastically for that day. Fortunately when we drove back four days later, the sky was a little clear from the other side of the Golden Gate:

The Golden Gate and the almost 10-kilometre long Bay Bridge were built in 1938-39 and, if we remember well to the words of one of our hosts, 40% of the yearly steel production of the US was used up for building the bridges' structure! Of course, we have driven through the biggest Chinatown of the North-American continent where we have seen no tourists, if there was any, it must have been Chinese. And obviously we could not miss driving down Lombard Street (picture 4, 5) or walking at the Fisherman's Wharf. We found not much interesting down there, everything, even parking is very expensive, it is better just to look at ships and sea-gulls (first two pictures below). Alcatraz seems to be pretty close from here (picture 3) but you have to pre-pay a few days in advance in order to reserve your seat therefore we, again, had to forget about visiting the prison.
